Summary
The America First Credit Union's Building Program has consciously eschewed the institutional demeanor that has historically characterized banking architecture. In its place, an architecture derived from more hospitable and appealing antecedents was created that more closely reflected the values of the typical AFCU member.
The Sandy branch exemplifies these principles by alluding to domestic architectural traditions while remaining an identifiable building of business. The design incorporates modern building technologies as well as materials that render the building virtually maintenance free. It is built using conventional wood framing with brick/stone veneer and asphalt shingles. The interior utilizes finishes that evoke a warm and inviting work place.
