Summary
The Rex Theatre was originally constructed in 1912 as a theatre in the Art Deco style. In 1945 it was converted into the Star Noodle restaurant. The building’s historic facade was substantially altered in the 1960’s, when many of the character-defining elements of the building were removed or covered.
The Olive Rooming House originally constructed in 1899 as retail and apartments in the Western Commercial Victorian style on Historic 25th street.
The Trout House was originally constructed in 1913 as retail and apartments in the Western Commercial Victorian style.
The rehabilitation work included the removal of all non-historic materials; repair of the original storefront, and repair and replacement of the damaged brickwork using in-kind materials. Other work included the installation of insulated wood windows; the general repair of the masonry; the installation of a new roof, and coping. Life safety and handicap accessibility upgrades included the creation of accessible entries and toilet facilities, and fire protection system.
