Summary
This preliminary design was prepared for Ogden City, in order to raise required funds and stimulate public interest in a new Railroad Museum.
After evaluating several alternative, including new construction, the decision was made to develop the Union Pacific Laundry Building because of its historic regional role in the railroad and adjacency to the Historic Union Station.
The Railroad Museum will house interpretive exhibit galleries, gift and book shop, administrative offices, library, lecture hall, and restaurant as well as new indoor and outdoor exhibit spaces, a restored interactive historic transfer table, exhibit receiving / storage, and an observation tower to view the historic railroad yard.
