Summary
Sanders Associates Architects provided programming and design services for the expansion and remodel of the Weber County Animal Shelter. The new expansion was designed to improve operational efficiency, organize user circulation, enhance security, and create a district shelter housing animals from Weber County, Ogden City, North Ogden, and Roy City.
This 20,505 sf facility houses administrative offices, conference/training room, adoption offices, 100 dog kennels, 200 cat kennels, examination, food preparation, food storage, laundry, euthanasia, and sally port. The building incorporates strategies that promote a “healthy building” ecology through the use of non-toxic materials, life cycle building utilization, and state-of-the- art environmental controls (for heating, cooling, ventilating, and lighting). The animal holding areas use energy-efficient skylights that afford generous natural light into the interior of the building.
