    Summary

The Rex Theatre was originally constructed in 1912 as a theatre in the Art Deco style.  In 1945 it was converted into the Star Noodle restaurant. The building’s historic facade was substantially altered in the 1960’s, when many of the character-defining elements of the building were removed or covered.

The rehabilitation work included the removal of all non-historic materials; repair of the original storefront, repair and replacement of the damaged brickwork using in-kind materials; and the installation of the restored star noodle sign.  Other work included the installation of insulated wood windows; the general repair of the masonry; the installation of a new roof, copper flashing, and coping.  Life safety and handicap accessibility upgrades included the creation of accessible entries and toilet facilities, and fire protection system.

The interior space was designed for Zucca Trattoria offering a polished casual dining experience, featuring authentic Italian Regional Cuisine with a modern approach.  The menu at Zucca changes with the seasons, creating a vibrant, beautiful array of dishes.  During the Northern Utah growing seasons, organic produce is sourced from local farmers.
